Helen Louise Milligan was born in Stockport, Cheshire in October 1980 and now resides in Peterborough but travels a lot to see family & friends.
Helen began her retail career with a national coffee shop chain, where she worked as Business Development Manager, overseeing the non-franchise UK shops. She joined Greggs, the UK's leading bakery retailer, in 2008 as Retail Operations Manager for Greggs Midlands region. Helen was quickly promoted to Executive Assistant, working closely for the CEO on key business activities and priorities for Greggs. She is now Head of Retail after being promoted into this role in June 2011.
Helen does (just about) have a life outside work and this is filled with renovating a house, reading, swimming, eating out and travelling round the country seeing family and friends.
Do you do any charity work?
I am fortunate to be involved in a number of charity initiatives including a programme in a prison which helps to get ex-offenders back into work when they leave prison. I have also been working recently in Teesside to help regenerate the area on behalf of a number of North East businesses.
What is the most impressive thing you’ve done in business?
A recent achievement has been to complete the Future Leaders programme run by the CBI which develops senior talent in the private sector, impacting the economic development of the region and giving a network of contacts across all sectors.
Your greatest strengths?
My unquestionable drive, energy and passion for any task I set my mind to and have the ability to stay extremely focused and follow it through to a successful conclusion.
I can be quite bossy, impatient and get frustrated when things aren’t moving quickly enough.
What motivates you?
My family are my inspiration and motivation for everything I do and I am so lucky to have such a great support network around me.
Who/what inspires you?
My role model is Nigella Lawson for creating such a fantastic brand whilst maintaining her femininity and family life.
